Lorena Rode
Bio of the designer:
Lorena Rode is an artist based in Munich. Raised across South America, Africa, and Europe, her work explores how we cultivate relationships, form communities, and create belonging. She builds objects, tools, and wearables that combine glass, ceramics, and wool, creating what she calls “unlikely neighbours.” Drawing inspiration from how other living beings navigate care, safety, and beauty, she questions how we live together and imagines how we might live differently.

Description of the work:
Ein Mädchentraum (A Girl’s Dream)
This lamp indulges in the softest pink. The audio piece, with the woman’s voice, made me think of her beautiful leather boots as an almost unreachable goal. A pinnacle of fulfilment, a dream, a girl’s dream.
This glowing blossom asks porcelain to blush in pink. It offers glassy windows of light that adorn themselves like heavy drops of dew. Alpaca wool becomes a skirt of petals, softening edges and enveloping the light. A delicate fantasy, somewhere between an object of desire and a living flower.
