Bio of the designer: 

Willem De Roo is a designer with a background in interior and furniture design, driven by curiosity, research and material experimentation. He approaches each project with an open mind, often starting from a material, object or reference and exploring how it can be manipulated, reinterpreted or pushed beyond its expected use.

Fashion is one of his biggest sources of inspiration, alongside everyday objects, historical research, architecture, retail spaces and the things he encounters in daily life. He is interested in working across disciplines and continuously learning new techniques and ways of making.

While he aims for a consistent design language and a strong attention to detail, experimentation remains an essential part of his practice. He strives to design objects that offer something beyond their obvious function, creating an added value that can develop an emotional connection and encourage people to keep and cherish them for longer.

SHEER SPINE

is an accessible storage system that translates the essence of the spine into a functional design. The piece consists of an aluminum skeleton and an innovative, detachable assembly system, protected by a textile ‘skin’ that users can slide or tension themselves to control transparency and protection. To bridge the step toward a unique, collectible object, the base rack can be personalized with interchangeable, cast aluminum ornaments. New options will launch annually, starting with a ram as a symbol of strength (skeleton) and protection (skin).
